During these times of uncertainly and concerns within our communities the United Way of Monroe/Lenawee Counties wanted to offer information and support to our many residents.  At this current time the best way to get information is to contact your 2-1-1 resource center.

The mission of 2-1-1 is to connect people with information and resources to build healthy, safe communities.  Their vision is to build stronger communities, day-to-day and in times of emergency.  Needed especially now, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2-1-1 system and their 24-hour service is available for referral sourcing for individuals and families with needs during this national emergency.  The Monroe/Lenawee United Way pays for these services.  The 2-1-1 services can be reached in several ways:

The Monroe County Health Department has created a coronavirus (COVID-19) hotline to assist in answering questions from county residents. It's open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.  The phone number is 734-243-8600.  The hotline will be staffed by health department personnel to answer general questions related to the virus.

The Lenawee County Health Department is monitoring the situation and working closely with local and state partners.  We are prepared to respond should a potential case come to Lenawee County.  For more information please visit the Lenawee County Health Department’s website at http://www.lenawee.mi.us/187/Health-Department .

The United Way of Monroe/Lenawee Counties will be accepting donation towards the COVID-19 to assist those in need during this current time.  Any donated funds will be used to assist with rent and mortgage payments for residents of Monroe and Lenawee Counties affected by COVID-19.  Please note that any funds collected and designated for the Covid-19 will be funneled to one of our partner agencies to distribute based on their established guidelines.  The United Way of Monroe/Lenawee Counties will not be distributing funds directly to individuals.

Stronger Together

On July 6th, 2016 The United Way of Monroe County approved moving forward with the regionalization of Lenawee and Monroe counties to form the United Way of Monroe/Lenawee Counties.  We have been working with United Way Board members, representatives from both the Michigan Association of United Ways (MAUW) and United Way Worldwide (UWW), as well as members from both communities, in order to develop and begin implementing a transition plan.

We

know that it is imperative for you, as community members, donors and agencies, to have up to date information about this transition.  We have a genuine commitment to our communities in both Monroe and Lenawee Counties - and we pledge to operate with the transparency and accountability that the United Way is known and respected for.  Below are several questions that have been brought to us from various community members, along with the answers that we have provided.
